Assignment #1:BOUNCING
BALL In flash, create a bouncing ball. Here is an
example. Create a ball at the bottom of the stage.
>Insert
>Keyframe
Use the arrow tool to select the entire ball.Be sure to select both the fill
and stroke. Select it by placing the arrow outside the circle in the upper left
and dragging it past the circle to the lower right.
Move the ball a little bit.
Go back to insert keyframe and move the ball up and down frame by frame.
1) Complete the bouncing ball in FLASH. Save it as bouncingball.fla.
2) Open Safari and Word. Research the following and answer the following questions. Save the Word document as ball.doc.
1. What is a circle?
2. What is a sphere?
3. What is the difference between a circle and a sphere?
4. Is the ball we created in flash a circle or a sphere?
5. What is 3D? Does the ball appear as a circle or sphere? What should the ball appear as? |
Assignment #2: GROWING BALL. In flash, create a ball getting larger.
Here is an example.

1) >Insert
>New Symbol
Call it ball
2) Go to Scene 1
Drag the ball onto the middle of the stage.
Do the following steps as needed.
>Insert
>Keyframe.
Select the free transform tool.
Grab the corner and make the ball slightly larger.
Continue until the ball fills the stage.
Next, open the text box by selecting the A tool.
>Window
>Properties
and choose a color, size and font.
Place the text in the middle of the ball.
Insert several keyframes to increase the time the text remains on the screen.
1) Complete the growing ball in FLASH. Save it as growingball.fla.
2) Open Safari and Word. Research the following and answer the following questions. Save the Word document as growing.doc.
1. What is a concentric circle?
2. What are concentric spheres?
3. What is the difference between a circle and a sphere?
4. Is the growing ball we created in flash a series of concentric circles or a series of concentric spheres?
5. What is the intention of the appearance of the ball? circle or sphere?

Assignment #3: ROTATION
WHEEL..In flash, create a wheel.
Here is an example.

1) >Insert
>New Symbol
Call it wheel
Using oval tool, create a circle.
Use the line tool to create spokes.
Use the arrow tool and select the wheel.
2) Go to Scene 1
Drag the wheel onto the middle of the stage.
Do the following steps as needed.
>Insert
>Keyframe.
Select the wheel.
Select the Free Transform Tool.
Rotate the circle a small amout by moving the cursor over a corner until
a loop symbol appears. Drag the mouse a little.
Move the circle.
Continue to move and rotate the circle around the stage.
When you get to the top, change the shape using the scale tool.
1) Complete the rotating wheel in FLASH. Save it as rotatingwheel.fla.
2) Open Safari and Word. Research the following and answer the following questions. Save the Word document as rotating.doc.
1. What is a rotation?
2. What is the path you chose for the wheel to rotate?
3. Does your rotating wheel appear realistic? Why or why not?
4. Is the rotating wheel we created in flash a circle or a sphere?
5. What should the rotating wheel appear as? circle or sphere?
Assignment #4:Open Dreamweaver. (10 points)
Save the document in your FLASH folder.
Call it rotation.html.
Insert a 3x1 table.
In row 1, insert your movie of the word rotation moving across the screen.
In row two, Insert rotation.swf

>Media
>FLASH
In row three answer the following questions in your own words.
1. What is a rotation?
2. What is dilate?
3. What is a 360 degree rotation?
4. What did you learn doing this project?
5. What did you like and what didn't you like about project?

Assignment #5:
FLASH: "Rotation" ACROSS SCREEN.In flash, have some words scroll
across the screen.
Here is an example.

Click on the text tool A and put your name on the stage.
Move your name off to the right of the screen using the selection tool (black
arrow).
Now move the words slightly onto the stage.
>Insert
> Keyframe.
Move the words slightly to the right. Continue in this way until the words
are off the screen to the left. Alter the speed by choosing
>Window
>Properties
and altering the Frame Rate (fps - frames per second). A lower number makes
it slower and higher number makes it faster.
1) Complete your word - Rotation in FLASH. Save it as WordAcross.fla.(5 points)
2) Open Safari and Word. Research the following and answer the following questions. Save the Word document as WordAcross.doc.
1. What is frame rate? (1 point)
2. What is the path you chose for the word to move?(1 point)
3. Did you rotate the word? Which direction?(1 point)
4. What is dilate? Did you dilate the word?(1 point)
5. What makes for an interesting movie?(1 point)
6. Is FLASH something you enjoy or is it too complicated?(1 point)
7. What kind of animation projects would you like to do?(1 point)

Assignment #6: Draw a Rabbit
Objective: To learn more about the FLASH tools. To create a rabbit for a future use in a big project we will be doing. To investigage Fibonacci and his famous sequence.
Open Safari
Part 1: Open FLASH - Draw a Rabbit (5 points)
1) Create a Flash Document called rabbit.fla
2 ) Create the shape in the library.
>Insert
>New Symbol
Graphic.
Draw the rabbit. Here
is a drawing to follow.
3)Go back to Scene1 when complete.
Click on Scene1 in upper right corner.
Part 2: Research Fibonacci and his sequence (5 points)
Open Word.
Using the Internet, find infomation to answer the following questions.
1) Who was Fibonacci? (1 point)
2) What is a sequence? (1 point)
3) What is the Fibonacci sequence of numbers? (1 point)
4) Find a few more sequences.(1 point)
5) What is the story of Fibonacci's rabbits?(1 point)

Assignment #7: MOTION TWEEN.
Objective: To learn more about the FLASH tools. To learn a shortcut called tweening in order to prepare us for future projects. To learn about rate/speed.
Part1: (5 points)
Open Flash.
Open rabbit.fla from or create your own shape as assignment #6 (above) explains.
Here is an example. Here is another example.
1) Create a simple background as desired.
2) Create a layer for the symbol.
>Insert >Layer.
3) Open the library Window
>Window >Library.
Click on the symbol. Drag the symbol to the stage. Move the symbol to the
beginning of the movement - off the stage to the right is a great starting
place.
4) Click on frame 60.
5)>Insert > Keyframe
6) Move the shape to the other side of the stage - off the stage - on the
other is side is a great ending place.
7) Click between the frames.
8) >Insert > Create Motion Tween.
9) >Control >Test movie.
Part 2: Research rate/speed (5 points)
Open Word.
Using the Internet, find infomation to answer the following questions.
1) What is rate? (1 point)
2) What is tween? (1 point)
3) What is the rate you chose to tween your rabbit? (1 point)
4) What is the path your rabbit takes?(1 point)
5) What is the story of Fibonacci's rabbits?(1 point)

Assignment #8:
SUNRISE WITH BOAT.In flash, have a sun rise and a sailboat
sail across the water. Here is an
example.
Make four layers - water,sky,sun,and boat making each item on each layer. Have
the sun move slowly up the screen using >Insert >Keyframe each time you
move the sun up slightly.
Create the boat in the library by using >Insert > New Symbol.

Now
we are ready to examine some math concepts.
Insert the movie into Dreamweaver. Create a math problem that applys
to this project. For example: Distance = Rate x Time. If a boat travels 5 miles an hour for four hours, how many miles does it travel?
Part 2: Research (5 points)
Open Word.
Using the Internet, find infomation to answer the following questions.
1) What is a sunrise? (1 point)
2) What is the units used for the speed of a boat? (1 point)
3) How does knots per hour compare to miles per hour? (1 point)
4) What is the difference between a sailboat and motorboat.(1 point)
5) What boat is the most kind to the planet?(1 point)

simple or as complicated as your knowledge and motivation allows. If you have
trouble thinking up an idea, try looking at some games or cartoon sites. Some
ideas are 1) A plane flying 2) Chicken with little chicks waddling 3) Bird flying
4) Man Diving into a pool 5) Character riding a motorcycle 6) Man Walking 7)
A cartoon character like Casper, Bugs Bunny, DragonBallZ, etc. Students' Work.
Assignment #13: TRANSFORM.In
flash, change a circle into a square using the shape tween. Here is an example.
1) Create the shape in frame one.
2) Click on the frame 50.
3) Insert a blank keyframe.
4) Draw a square.
5) Click between the two keyframes.
6) In the properties panel choose Shape Tween.
Assignment #14: Tweening

Assignment # : CARTOON. In flash create this
cartoon charater. When finished, >Insert >Convert to Symbol. Then
create the background in a new file and open the character as a library and
drag onto the stage. Here is the

Assignment #: MOTION TWEEN. In flash, create a shape to
move across the screen using the motion tween.. Here is an example.

1) Create the shape in the library. >Insert >New Symbol ,
Graphic.Go back to Scene1 when complete. Click on Scene1 in
upper right corner.
2) Create a layer for the symbol. >Insert >Layer.
3) Open the library Window >Window >Library. Click on the symbol.
Drag the symbol to the stage. Move the symbol to the beginning of the movement
- off the stage is a great starting place.
4) Click on frame 25.
5)>Insert > Keyframe
6) Move the shape to the other side of the stage - off the stage - on the other
is side is a great ending place.
7) Click between the frames.
8) >Insert > Create Motion Tween.
9) >Control >Test movie.
Assignment #: MASK.In flash, create a masked word like
this example or this example.

Assignment #: In flash, create a clown with a bowtie spinning using
CCW or CW rotation and eyes moving using motion tweens. Use separate layers
for background color, face and hair, smile, bowtie, eyes and nose just in case
you want to get really fancy and make the clown smile and frown or wiggle his
nose. Make the bowtie separately as a symbol and then drag it to the stage.
To rotate the bowtie, select it, click on frame 35.>Insert>Keyframe.
Click between frames. Open the frames window. Select Motion Tween. Select Rotate
CW or CWW and 5 rotations.Here is an example.
