COMPUTER MATH SYLLABUS


I. TOPICS:

Various Math and Technology Topics. Applications include Sketchpad, Mathematica, Photoshop, Illustrator, FLASH, Dreamweaver and InDesign

I. RULES:
1) Common Courtesy is expected.
2) All electronic equipment including cellphones, walkmans, pagers, MP3’s, Palm Pilots, etc. will be turned off and out of site before entering the building.
3) Food or drinks will be eaten only at designated times and areas.
4) Students are expected to remain in the classroom for the entire period.


II. CLASS PARTICIPATION/ATTENDANCE:
Students earn 10 points a day when they are on time and in class the entire period and do the assigned work.
A. Credit will be received when a student has earned at least 80% class participation points AND completed ALL assignments.
B. Lateness or leaving early count as one-half an absence. A late advisee earns 5 points, not 10 for the day.
C. A student who is late every day will be ineligible for credit.
D. A student who is more than 15 minutes late will be counted absent and earn zero class participation points.
E. Class Trips: Students who are absent because they went on a class trip will be counted absent until the work/time required for the missed day is made up.
F. A student must present an excused absence in order to be eligible to make up their assignments. Students who are absent are required to make up their work within 3 days of the given assignment.


III. WORK EXPECTATIONS:

Students are expected to be in class, on time and engaged in classroom activities on a regular basis for the entire period. In addition, students are expected to complete work in a timely manner.
Students who begin the class at a late date are responsible for missed assignments.
Students who are absent are expected to make up all missed assignments.


IV. GENERAL GRADE DETERMINATION:

1) Class Participation: A student must have a class participation grade of at least 80% in order to receive credit.
A student on time and engaged in class work the entire period receives 10 points for the day. A student who is late (less than 15 minutes) but goes directly to work will receive 5 points. A student who is not engaged in class work will receive zero points for the day.
2) Completed assignments and projects. A student must have an average of at least 65 in order to receive credit.
